The Power of Gratitude
Hi friends!
Another beautiful day. Thankful I get to connect and chat with you all. There are so many things I want to chat about. Sometimes as I sit down to write, it often crosses my mind, what do I talk about? What do my friends want to hear? What do they need to hear? How can I encourage them today?
Well…today, I wanted to take a moment to slow down and write about gratitude. Gratitude, a small but transformational practice.
Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
This world can spin so fast, we can often fall into pattern day in and day out. We can get consumed by our never-ending to-do list or even by the activities we say yes and want to say yes to. I believe that while the world does spin fast, when we begin the day with a spirit and heart posture of gratitude our perspective fully changes. Gratitude has a transformational ability to shift our mind, one of the most powerful tools we can use and operate.
How incredible is it that we can take control of our mind and use it as a tool for goodness and helpfulness through gratitude, a tool that is in our control. Many things, events, decisions, and thoughts are out of our control. As I’m sure you know, humans have a need to control and from that need can cause stress. The direct offensive tool for stress is gratitude.
This morning I woke up a little tired, anxious, and stressed. Going into my workout I was really, really trying to turn it around and suppress those feelings. During my workout I just started listing off things I was grateful for in my mind. Every lie that was attacking me, I just kept repeating thoughts of gratitude - using the tool I knew I had in that moment. It was as simple as “I am grateful I am here moving my body” to “Thank you, Lord, for organs that work without me having to tell them to”. Listing out things I was grateful radically changed my day because it pulled me out of the self pity pit I was stuck in. Gratitude really does work.
A simple, yet significant reminder to take a moment today. Write down the things you are grateful for. When something shows up today that maybe wasn’t what you wanted or what you expected, remember that you have a winning tool in your toolbox. Practice gratefulness and watch the world around you transform. A little lighter, a little kinder, a little brighter.
I’m grateful for you, that you are here and took the time to read this. Allow yourself to experience the love and joy that this day has to offer.
Love always,
Mo
